FALL OF EARTH.

MEN OVERWHELMED. THREE LIVES LOST. MELBOURNE, Monday. Five men employed in a water tunnel leading to the Silvan reservoir were overwhelmed by a fall of earth. Two were rescued, but the other three, Walter Crosby, Frederick Scales and Bert Walsh, are probably dead. Their comrades have been working with feverish haste for hours trying to reach them, but little hope is entertained of their being alive.
