BASKETBALL.

TOURNAMENT AT MASTERTON. • The annual tournament of the senior grade basketball players was held on the Wairarapa High School grounds on Saturday in fine weather. The tournament was efficiently controlled by the secretary of the Wairarapa Basketball Association, Miss G. Matthews, while the following assisted as referees, Mrs Haywood, Misses J. Bayne, L. Cocker, N. Fleming, A. Brown and Bullen. The winning team was the Wairarapa High School Old Girls’ A team. The following were the, members of the winning team: —Goal, M. Bright, P. Gee, H. Brenkley; centre, B. Gregor, S. Poison, Z. Ackerman (captain); defence, L. Renner, N. Welch, S. Drummond.

The results of the matches were as follow: —

First Round.—Wesley A beat Technical Old Girls, 10/9; Pahiatua Convent Old Girls beat Wairarapa High School Old Girls B, 9/4; Masterton Convent Old Girls beat Carterton, 9/3; Wesley B won by default from Pahiatua Old Girls.

Second Round. —Wairarapa High School Old Girls A beat Grey town A, 9/2; Martinborough beat Grey town B, 19/4. Third Round—Wesley A beat Paliiatua Convent Old Girls, 7/3; Masterton Convent Old Girls beat Wesley B, 10/4. Semi-finals.—Wairarapa High School Old Girls A beat Martinborough, 6/3; Wesley A beat Masterton Convent Old Girls, 3/2.

Final. —Wairarapa High School Old Girls A beat Wesley A, 6/1.
