A.J.C. MEETING.

SYDNEY, Sunday

The A.J.C. was favoured with flue weather and a largo attendance for the concluding day of its spring carnival at Randwick on Saturday. The track was slow, due to recent wet weather. The New Zealand horse Green Linnet received pronounced support from her connections in the Canonbury Stakes, but ran poorly and finished at the rear of the field. First Acre made a splendid bid for victory in the Waverlcy Handicap, but weakened in the final strides, losing the race by half a head. The steeplechaser Home Made appeared a possibility for his race, but hit several fences in the latter stages of the race, causing him to weaken at the finish. ’ Niglitmareh established himself as a great horse by brilliantly capturing the Randwick Plate. Running last for most of the journey, he came in the final strides and smothered the opposition, gaining the verdict by two lengths/ David’s Day, winner of tho Canonbury Stakes, was foaled from Frosty Morn, who was presented by the New Zealand sportsman, Mr W. G. Stead, to Mr Otway Falkincr, his present owner. His sire is David. New Zealand-bred horses vesterday also filled the first three places in the Waverlcy Handicap. That well-known steeplechaser, Stony, was killed in the Dowling Steeplechase. Results: —

At the mile New Street had charge from Papatu, First Acre and Sunflare. Passing the half-mile Papatu and New Street were together from King Conrad, First Acre, Lady 'Clara and Inducement. First Acre took command at the distance, closely followed by King Conrad, and, after a keen struggle King Conrad gained the verdict by half a head. Time, 3.6 J.

At the half-mile the field was closely bunched, with Crueis leading and Niglitmareh last. At the distance, Crueis, Winalot and Kidaides were on even terms, with Niglitmareh finishing smartly.
