TASMANIAN FARMERS.
SUNDAY VISIT OBJECTED TO. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Friday. A lively discussion took place at a meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union over the fact that the Tasmanian farmers were scheduled to spend only Sunday in this district-. It- is suggested that the visitors inspect the Government experimental farm in the morning and motor through the county in the afternoon. An objection was raised to Sunday trips, a motion of protest being moved and seconded.

Mr Evans: “No. This is our business. The Otira trip lias nothing to do with us.”
Mr 11. Brown: “You should take this in committee. Eighty par cent- of the people of Canterbury do not observe Sunday. ’ ’ Voices: “Hardly that.” Mr 11. C. B. Withell said the feelings of the visitors had not been taken into account. Mr Brown: “There is no other place in New Zealand where they would, kick up such a fuss.” Finally, the following motion was carried: “The executive regrets that the visit, of Tasmanian farmers is limited to Sunday only, and considers the following Monday should have been included in Ashburton. ”
