MEMORIAL PARK.

ANNUAL REPODT. The annual report of the Soldiers’ Memorial Park Board (inc.), to be pre : seated at the annual general meeting, to bo held on Tuesday, May 29th, at S p.m., states: — “During the past year a further area, on the south of the entrance gates, has been planted Avith shade and shelter trees. We again Avish to express our thanks to the Masterton Beautifying Society for their assistance in this respect. Unfortunately, some of the trees arc not suitable to the stony nature of tho piece of land, and must be replaced Avith more suitable A’aricties'.

“The ten new tennis courts adjacent to the Dixon street frontage have been completed. The board has supported the Memorial Tennis Club in an effort to get a suitable lease of the courts direct from the Trust Lands Trustees, and this, we believe, will eventuate. This would mean that in future we would be relieved of all upkeep, etc., in •respect of the tennis courts. ‘•‘lt is with regret that we have to report that we are suffering considerable monetary loss and inconvenience through the wanton damage being done to our property, particularly in respect to the grandstand and appointments. This is due to larrikins, and the board proposes to take esvere steps with anyone found damaging the property. “We again wish to thank the Masterton Borough Council for writing off the rates on our property, which has been of material assistance to us. During the year Mr J. Caselberg resigned from the board. He was one of the original members, and for some years past had been our chairman. We wish to record the appreciation of his splendid services. Mr W. Kemp was unanimously elected chairman in his stead. At this meeting the public will be called upon to elect three members, as representatives of the citizens of Masterton. “The statement of receipts and expenditure, and balance-sheet, are now made available for your perusal. —For the Board. (Sgd.) William Kemp, chairman.”
