' In .January last regulations under the f eights and Measures Act, 1025, were netted but in order to give manufacturers and packers time to obtain •the necessary sizes of packets and similar a period was allowed between the gazetting and the application jjf the regulations. the 10th instant it will be •an offence to sell packages containing .sugar, coffee, coffee and chicory, cocoa and cocoa powder, chocolate powder, .treacle and golden syrup, pepper, mustard, black Japan, including substitutes, Brunswick black, including substitutes, candles, other than fancy candles, nails, including clout nails, stap_ples, brade, panel pins and gimp pins, tobacco, turpentine, including mineral substitutes, varnish, including varnish stains and lacquer, in quantities other than one ounce, two ounce, four ounce, . six ounce, twelve ounce, one pound, one a half pounds, or multiples of a ipound net avoidupois weight, one fluid ounce, two fluid ounce, half gill, one gill, half pint, one pint, one and a half pint, one cusrt, half gallon, one gallon, -or multiples of oue gallon net measure. The regulations already apply to the sale of butter, tea and milk, and as from July 10' next will include also, honey in pats and paints. These provisions will not affect (J) the sale of articles weighed or mcasur•ed in the presence of the customer, whCTe the weight or measure' is that by him; (2) any article (exsold in a bottle.
