A AVashington cable states that Mr Andrew AV. Alellon, Secretary of the Treasury announces that he will not be a Presidential candidate in 1928. The death occurred yesterday at a private hospital in AVellington of Airs Clara Biggs, widow of the late Air Mark Biggs, formerly of Featherston, at the age of 73 years. - The engagement is announced of Aliss Alai da Tomlinson, only daughter of Air E. S. Tomlinson, of Pownail Street, Masterton, to Air John Lawson, eldest son of Air A. G. Lawson^ “ Bracburn, ’ > Masterton. E. Iveskinen, the fine all-round athlete representing Queensland at flaw Australian and New pionships, who won the at Athletic Park yesterday, has decided to remain in the Dominion for some time. Ilis intention is to gain experience of butter-making in New Zealand before returning to his native country, Finland, where he is a butter factory manager.
