AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AVELL INC TO Y. Wednesday. The Australian and New Zealand athletic championships entered their final stage to-day, when the contfst in the decathlon began. At the end of the first five events E. G. Sutherland, .the only New Zealander remaining in t lie trial of all-round athletic ability, is leading from Koskinen, the Finnish Olympic Games representative, who is now resident in Queensland, and a close finish is expected. Scents (New Zealand) and Lundquist (A'ictoria) were non-starters, while, .after competing in the IUO metres flat and broad jump, Shirley (New Zealand), who was suffering from muscular trouble, withdrew.
The best performance of the day was Hunt’s 50 4-Jseo in the 400 metres. The next best was AValker’s 11 2-Jsee in the 100 metres. The following are to-day's additional results: 400 METRES.

To-morrow’s events are: —100 Metres Hurdles; throwing the discus; pole vault; throwing the javelin; 1500 metres flat. (The points in the decathlon are allocated on a percentage basis in proportion to the competitor’s proximity to the record set for each event).
