A SPEEDY TRIAL. EFFORTS AT SUICIDE. Press Association-Electric Xelegraph-Copyriglr: VAN CO EVER, Wednesday. A Los Angeles message states thal the gaoler discovered Hickman attempting to hide a spoon in his clothing during the evening meal. It ibelieved that lie intended to use the spoon to attempt suicide. He was warned that lie would be put in irons if he continued his efforts. A medical examiner reported that .Marion Parkin' died of heart failure, not strangulation. Hickman will be defended bv a 27b yoar-old Kansas City attorney chosen by the accused man’s mother, who has given up hope of his escape from punishment. The case will precede all others on the file, and is expected to be concluded speedily.
