CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

A NEW YEAR ATTRACTION. Entries for the 52nd annual gathering of the Wairarapa Caledonian Soeictv dosed on Saturday, .and indicate that the gathering is going to be an unqualified success, alike in athletic, cycling and field events, as well as in the piping and dancing competitions. In addition 1o pipers from the various parts of New Zealand who are competing in marches, strathspeys, reels and pilii'oclis, the committee of the Caledonian Society have engaged the |\done Pipe Band, which will play at intervals during the day. This band has a fine reputation, and they arc sure of a hearty welcome to Masterton. The Park Oval is an ideal place for a sports gathering. The reconditioned track is in excellent order, and the shady nooks, children's playing area, and the lake, with its facilities for bathing and boating, and the big programme of sports should attract a very large attendance to the Park on January 2nd. The concert in rlie evening promises to be a most interesting one. Further particulars will be announced to-mor-row. HANDICAPS.
