SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

A lorry belonging to Mr William Dighton. eontraetor, of Masterton, and driven by E. B. Savage, was proceeling u]) the Weraiti Hill, en route to West mere, with a load of material for a road contract there. When turning a bend beyond Mrs .1. Mae Raws residence, Hit' lorry left the road. It is stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle owing to too much play in fee steering wheel. The lorry rolled over three times in its fall of about sixty feet. The driver remained in the ea >, a lid was severely knocked about, receiving cuts and abrasions, the three oth< r occupants, Dighton (the contractor), the lad Orr, and a labourer being thrown out. Dighton and the labourer escaped with a severe shaking. Dr. Cowie was summoned and attended to the injured men, the boy Orr be ing later admitted to hospital.
