MASTERTON BLAZE.

BOARDING HOUSE GUTTED. The Masterton Fire Brigade was summoned at .‘kid p.m. yesterday to extinguish a lire in a boarding house of ten rooms .at the corner of Perry and Timothy streets, owned by the Timms E-state and occupied by -Mrs A. Sunnex. The lire had a good hold of the rear portion of the building when the brigade arrived, but after half an hour's work with three leads of water, was got under control, a good save being effected. Some of the occupants were in the front rooms of the house having utterneon tea at the time of the outbreak, and upon seeking the cause of an unusual noise found the rear of the house alight. The lire, it is stated, apparently started in a bedroom which had been unoccupied since Saturday last, and quickly spread to the adjoining three rooms, all of which were destroyed. The remaining portion of the house was also damaged. Two of the boarders were heavy losers, practically all of their personal effects being destroyed. The furniture was insured for £-100,
