TUNNEL DISPUTE.
FRUITLESS CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A further conference yesterday in connection with the Tawa Flat tunnelling dispute proved fruitless, neither party agreeing ou the question of wages. The contractors stated that if the present workmen did not agree to their offer of ISs for shovellers they (the contractors) would take steps to man the tunnel on January 4th. As the conference had failed they reserved the right to engage whatever labour thfiv liked.
