A SALUTARY FINE.
IMPOSED UPON MOTORIST. x TOO FAST AT INTERSECTION. 'Knud Christian Jorgensen, of Auckland, was charged at the Police Court in Masterton, this morning, before Messrs Eli Smith and J. C. E'wington, J’s.P., with having driven a motor car across the intersection of Queen, Perry and Bannister-streets at an excessive speed. Constable Smith said that Jorgensen 'drove his car across the intersection at about 25 miles an hour at 7 o’clock on a Friday evening. The Bench said this was a serious offence. Defendant would be fined £lO tfcid 10/ costs. The remarked that in their uniform speed limit across intersections should be adopted for the whole Dominion. Different speed limits operated in various towns, and led to 'confusion. However, this was a matter for the Legislature, but the Bench thought they would draw attention to they considered a desirable alteration.
