RACING OFFICIAL FAREWELLED. A very pleasant function recently took place, when a prominent racing official whs farewellcd prior to leaving the country. In the course of the evening, when the air was blue with smoke, ho rose to make reply: *'Gentlemen,” lie said, "I see around me to-night many happy faces. I hope it’s not because'l’m going away!” No!
