ELECTRICAL WORKERS.
AWARD EXEMPTION SOUGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, -Wednesday. The Poverty Bay Power Board applied to the Arbitration Court to-day for exemption from the provisions of the 'Northern Industrial Lnion Electrical Workess’ Award, the board having been cited to be joined as a party by the Auckland Electrical Workers’ Union. -Mr O'Leary appeared for the Union, Mr AV. H. AVestbrookc, the Employees’ Association secretary, and Mr F. R. Ball, the chairman of the Power Board, appeared for the board. The-Court told the applicants plainly that they could not hope to obtain exemption from the award. The question of hours was discussed at length, the union wanting the award hours of 84 per .day, while the board asked for 9 hours, Mr RhU stating that this was a request from iho workers concerned. , 'yjW’ discussion, the Court left the question of hours to bo doc; fled at a meeting of the men concerned, to bo laoid in .January, the local Labour Offiuor to preside, and at which the boaid and the union will have representatives 'present.
