PRIMARY SCHOOLS.

PROMOTIONS AND AWARDS. TE WHITE The Te W’hiti school picnic was held on Friday. Owing to the unfortunate weather conditions it took place in the school grounds. Judging by the happy faces of adults and children alike, all enjoyed themselves, in spite of the fact that all games had to be played indoors. A few races were run, but the majority wore postponed until after the summer vacation. The Rev. J. Davie kindly presented the prizes. Good attendance certificates were gained by John Hcmi, Robert Gun desen, Edgar Henderson and Rang! Rciri. Audrey Moore received a prize for best essay. The sewing prizes were gained by Alavis Gundesen, senior; Hazel Henderson, mtcimediate; and Joan Small, junior. Certificates from the Wairarapa Sports’ Association were presented to Audio} Moore, John Hcmi and Arolia Rein. Proficiency certificates were gained by Audrey Aloore, Verona Gundcsen, Eric Henderson and Alavis Gundcsen. Promotions. —To St. C: Kathleen Magog. To St. 5: Nancy Henderson, Kdythc Cave, Douglas Alason, John Hcmi. To St. 4: Robert Gundcsen, Edgar Henderson. The prize-giving ceremony concluded with the presentation from tho children to the teacher, Aliss Stoddart, of a bedroom clock. In the evening an enjoyable dance was held. OPAKI. At the Opaki school, the following gained proficiency certificates:—Lulu Ouscy, Unity Hollo, Zeita Wingate.
