PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr W. B. Mathcson, who recently enjoyed a trip abroad, is a visitor, to -Masterton to-day. The Minister -of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod) returned to 'Wellington from the Wairarapa yesterday. Mr C. Beckett, of Masterton, son of the Rev. W. Beckett, has been successful in passing his final Pharmacy examination. Air A. Hendry, of Wellington, youngest son of Mr and Airs A. Hendry, of Masterton, has passed the final section of his solicitor’s examinations. Aliss A r . E. Thomson, who has severed her connection with St. Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls, Masterton, has accepted a position, on the staff of Chilton House School, Wellington. At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Eketahuna Lodge of Oddfellows Bros. Rowden, Farrow and G. Millingham were elected to represent the lodge at the A.M.C. to be held in Wellington.

Visiting Wellington at present is Bishop .Juji Kakadu, of the .la-pan Holiness Church, Oriental Alissionary Society. The Bishop’s visit is a sequel to the world-wide tour made by some 50 members of Batumi's party a few years ago. Ills main object, in coming to New Zealand is to visit the ALuoris, and he expects to attend a Alnori convention at Rat-ann Pa, Wanganui, next week. At the breaking-up ceremony of the Alartinborough School, Aliss C. Clarke, who has been infant mistress there for many years, was farewelled, having been transferred to Levin. Jean Feist, on behalf of the scholars, presented Aliss Clarke with a gold wristlet watch. Aliss Clarke was also the recipient from the school staff of a handsome golf bag, the presentation being made by Air W. Hickson, headmaster. The death is reported from Levin of Air Simeon Inder, who for a number of years was postmaster at Alasterton. Mr Inder died yesterday. He had been suffering from a painful malady, which he bore with great fortitude, notwithstanding that lie knew that his ease was beyond relief. Mr Inder was held in very high esteem for his many sterling qualities. A widow, one daughter, Airs C. Blenkhorn (Levin) and three sons, Alessrs Eric (Auckland), Norman and Roy Indcr (Danncvirkc) are left to mourn their loss, to whom much sympathy \ will be extended.
