WAIRARAPA P. &A. SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING. (Special to “Daily Times.”) The general committee met at Carterton on Saturday. The treasurer reported:—Bank overdraft, £IBS6 83 lid. The general account was dr., £1298 16s Id; paddock account, dr., £IBB9 7s; receipts since last meeting, £1546 10s Cd. Mrs W. Raynor, Masterton, was accorded a vote of thanks for her services as judge at the jubilee show. The 'Carterton Borough Council notified that a rebate of £3 had been granted in respect to the water rates. The New Zealand Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association wrote that the breed societies were not being asked that animals under 12 months old when •showing, should be registered in the Herd Books, but that animals over that date should be. The trouble was that the regulation providing that animals must bo entered or eligible for entry does not go far enough, as any animal Whose sire and dam arc registered is eligible (irrespective of the age), on payment of a specially high fee, if over 12 months old, and exhibitors rightly say their animals are eligible, but if they win no awards they do not in some eases enter them, and that is what the Association wants to prevent. It was suggested that the entry form should state that no animal over 12 months of age will be awarded a prize unless entered in the Herd Book. —Received. The Railway Department advised that ,on the whole, the volume of traffic conveyed by rail was satisfactory. All the special show services, with the exception of the a ditional train to Greytown, were very well patronised. Tlioso who travelled by the latter numbered two.
Mr T. Scott (Martinborough) was elected a member. One resignation'was accepted and one was held over.
