As the result of a tie-pin becoming detached from the steering road, a lorry carrying a picnic party of parents and children, a, total of 28, went over a bank near Awakino on Sunday morning. It fell 40 feet. As the result of injuries, Alax Brcdenbeck, son of IA -Bredenbeck, owner and driver of the lorry, died in the hospital this morning. Gordon Weir, aged S, residing at Arapae, is also in -the hospital, suffering from injured ribs and shock. The others received minor injuries. The lorry escaped being hurled into the Awakino river through being caught on a protruding bank.
