MASTERTON CATTLE FAIR. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Distributing Co., Ltd., report having held a cattle fair yesterday, when thev offered a total yarding of 433 head of cattle. Some choice lines of 3year steers .were offered and elicited Keen competition, the same applying to grown bullocks and empty station heifers. Competition was exceptionally keen, for all lines offered, with the exception of a few small pens of yearling heifers. Prices realised were as follows:—Fat 2-year Hereford steers on ae. H. \Y. We report a good clearance -as follows:—12 3 and 4-year Shorthorn bullocks, medium quality, £7 17s; 13 P.A. cross do., £7 32s fid; 32 do. £7 4s; 3 3 forward empty P.A. cross cows, £6; 9 do., £5 Is; 12 do., £o; other lines, £4 11s to £4 13s; light fat heifers, £() ss: medium 2-year steers, £4 9s; rough -steers, £3 13s Gd; other sorts at late rates. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report We held our supplementary cattle fair at the Colombo Road yards aesterdav. In spite of the wet weather, the fixture attracted a large and representative attendance. Buyers wcie present from the \\ est Coast, although the principal purchases were made bj buyers from the Lower Valley. The sale was most satisfactory, bidding being brisk and well sustained throughout. Our last cattle fair was considered an exceptionally good sale, but yesterday’s sale was even better, 'and we hai c to report making -a -total clearance under the hammer at prices well above lenders’ expectations. There was a scarcity -of grown bullqeks, and the feu yarded made very good money. In fact, there was a particularly good demand for all classes of steers of any_ age, and we sold yearlings up to £3 Ks. The ma jority of our offering comprised good lines of station cows, and two lines of particularly well-brdc cows offered on account of “ Brancepeth ” and “Morland” made the very satisfactory figure of £3 3s respectively. Iho better-conditioned cows of the latter line made.£6 17s. Practically the whole yarding came forward in good condition, and in addition, to the lines mentioned above we made sales as under: —Four-year bullocks, £7 10s to £S 3s; 3-vear bullocks, £0 13s to £7 3is; yearling steers, £4 13s to £3 30s; Hereford cows £4 Ss to £3 3s; Hereford heifers, £4 30s to £3; yearling heifers, £2 12s to £3 fis; fat cows, £7 3s to £7 18s; fat heifers, £7 3s; fat bullock, £9 13s; store cows, coloured, £3 Is to £3 13s.
