FREEZERS' DISPUTE.
A RUSH FOR WORK. ONLY FEW STRIKERS REQUIRED. (By Telegraph — Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day.’ Memborsfcof the Freezers’ Union decided to accept employment, and a big number of men applied at 'both works this morning, but only, a small number of these wore required, as many of the volunteer workers had elected to remain for the season, and, having applied for membership to the Enion, were kept on. Only 25 out of 70 applicants got positions at the Haiti works. ' UNIONISTS START AT FEUDING. ’ FEILDING, This Day. - At- the freezing works this morning ■ six butchers were called in addition ter twenty volunteers previously engaged. The six Unionists immediately accepted books and work with the volunteers. ” ■ (Everything is going smoothly. ■ Lambs :are rather late in maturing, but increasing numbers are coming forward daily. ; THE WAINGAWA WORKS. ' PLENTY OF BUTCHERS. As many butchers as can be accommodated at present are operating to-day at the Waingawa works. About a dozen of the- volunteer butchers are still holding their positions, having become proficient at their work. There is ample labour of every .kind available, and the works will now carry on normally.
