A VISIT TO WEEAITI. ' A very enjoyable afternoon was siiont last Saturday, when Solway College and. St. Matthew's companies of Girl Guides were entertained at Werai.ii by Mrs Moc-Rae, the president. Tennis and other games were played but the girls ’enjoyed nothing better .than to wander among the flowers and admire-the beautiful garden which was at .Hie height of perfection. ‘-’The view, looking across to Masterton, and tne iif.ls beyond was magnificent, ideal weather conditions prevailing. • During the afternoon Mrs Macßae presented each eonii>anv wit'll a Union Jack. She said that she licqied it would remind them of their jiromiso to be loyal to God and the-King.

Tho girls enjoyed a silk ml id afternoon tea. and ices, and later in the afternoon both eonqianies joined hands in a ring to | ’|ni.l bon-bons. Afterwards they sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” and with three ch'cers for Mrs Macßae and good-bye's said, a wonderful afternoon was brought to a close. On receiving the Union Jack, Elizabeth Cowie, on behalf of Solway C’olkge corps, and Mrs Bullock, on behalf of St. Matthew’s corps, thanked Mrs Macßae, and said what a great pleasngm it ws for Hie girls -to come t-o ‘Wrrniti, and what a really splendid time they were having. Mrs Macßae suitably replied, and remarked that she was very pleased that the two companies had had the -opportunity of mixing together, helping to foster the true Guide sjdrit.
