WOMAN’S THEFT.
UNDERWEAR FOR RELATIONS. In the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr E. Page, S.M., a married, woman, Ivy Worsfold, aged 20, was charged with stealing on November 11, a pair of silk stockings and a princess underskirt, and on November 13, three pairs of ladies’ fuji silk knickers and three vests, the goods being the property of Eleanor May Cox, with whom accused was employed. Chief-Detective Ward stated that when interviewed, it was found that accused had taken other articles. She was sending the goods to relations in the country. «, Mr M. Luckie, for accused, submitted it was a case for lenient treatment, and asked for suppression of the name. She came of a highly respectable family. Mr PajM sajd it iva-s not in his power ;to order suppression, as the Act limited such power to one charge. He convicted accused and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon within the next twelve months. She was also ordered to pay' 15/-, tho cost of one article which was not saleable when all had been recovered.
