A member of the Gipsy Smith local committee said to-day that he could sec nothing else for it but that the guar an tors would have to be called on to meet the expenses of the mission in Christchurch. . He said the total expenses of the mission would auiount to £S0(). So far, a sum of £S2G 9/7 had been realised by collections. This did not equal the amount anticipated. At the Gipsy Smith mission to-night, the Rev. E. D.’Patchett stated that the mission was paying its way and that the guarantors would not be called upon for a penny. Gipsy Smith said he was glad to hear the chairman make the statement, as ir seemed to him that many people would like to know the mission was failing. “It is not going to; you folks are behind it aren’t you?
