CRANE DRIVERS. STRIKE.
MINES CLOSED. THOUSANDS OF MEN IDLE. SYDNEY, Tuesday. As a result of the crane drivers' strike at Newcastle four collieries have closed and it is expected that more than half the mines on tlie Newcastle and Maitland fields will close to-mor-row. So far two thousand men arc thrown idle, and if the dispute is not speedily settled the total will reach six thousand. —(P.A.).
