In the Assembly, Mr Bavin stated that he intended to divide the House on a motion of supply unless it could be shown that the electoral rolls could not be ready within a month. The Chief Secretary (Mr Lazzarini) intimated that it would be impossible to have the rolls ready before March. If an election was held before then they would have to lie under proportional representation, with the 1924 rolls. A sensation whs caused when Miss Preston Stanley declared that the Minister of Health (Mr .Cann) offered Jo put through, legislation in which she was interested if she would cros*s thefloor and vote for an additional' two months’ supply. Lahg, the Permier, moved for supply for four months, amounting to £1,420,335, in accordance with the promise given to the House last week. Mr T. R. Bavin, Leader of the Opposition, objected to granting supply, contending that there was nothing to prevent the Government coming back to the House at the end of March and asking for further supply.
