Jackson to the Governorship of Bengal, a by-election for the Howdenshire seat was held, and resulted as follows: — Major Carver (Conservative) 10,653. Mr Linlield (Liberal) 6,668. Mr Kneeshaw; (Labourite) 2,315. The Hon. F. S. Jackson was returned unopposed at the general election).
