MOTORIST FINED.
IGNORED SIGNAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) 'CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. George P. Greenwood, the well known racehorse owner, appeared before Mr H. P. Lawry, 'S.M., in the Magistrate ’s Court this morning, on a charge of failing to stop at the traffic constable’s signal. Defendant, who pleaded not guilty, said: “The right of the road was in my hands.” The magistrate: “It was in the traffic constable’s hands.” | Defendant: “I had just come back , from Australia, and had not driven a car in Christchurch for some time. 1 .misunderstood the signal.” The magistrate: “When in doubt it is better to stop.” Fined 2Us, costs 7s.
