WHARFAGE SCHEME.

AUCKLAND DEVELOPMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. New' proposals for the development of Auckland harbour were submitted to the Board by the engineer (Mr D. Holdorness'). The complete cost is estimated at £5,500,000. The main items are:—Wharf over outer arm, western breakwater, and equipment, £680,000; export wharf, £580,000; general cargo wharf, west of Prince’s wharf, £550,000; general purposes wharf, £545,000; wharf over eastern breakwater, £525,000; railway wharf, £270,000; administrative offices, £250,000; reclamation from Hobson street to Halsey street, £220,000; coo. store, £200,000; reclamation west of western breakwater, £150,000; viaduct tu Freeman's Bay, £90,000. It is proposed that the construction should be made in stages,.the first fine years' programme involving an expenditure of £375,000, including the breastwork in front of the proposed S ;io for the new workshops and stores at Mechanics Bay, aiid a new wharf at Dcvonport. The report was referred to the Board in committee.
