FLOODS IN VICTORIA.

A TOWN ISOLATED, THRILLING RESCUES. MELBOURNE, Monday. Rain is falling with cyclonic intensity over the whole of the north and Gippsland. The Tanibo Mitchell and Snowy rivers have broken their banks, and are inundating miles of country. 'The town of Orbost is isolated, but the residents were warned by wireless of the approach of the flood waters, and moved from the low-lying districts. The railway services are disorganised. So far no casualties have been reported, although there were many thrilling rescues. A fishing party of three men left Lakes Entrance for the Mallacoota Inlet in a ketch, and have not been heard of since.—P.A.
