BUOYANT FINANCE; BIG: SURPLUS. MELBOURNE, Friday. In the House d! Representatives, Dr. Earle Page, treasurer, announced a surplus for the past financial year of £4,575,475. The receipts for the year amounted to £08,800,178, and the expenditure to £66,815,853, leaving the excess of receipts over revenue at'£1,954,325. Almost all the estimates of expected revenue were exceeded. —P.A.
