According to the meteorologist, the cyclone is of an extensive nature, and one of the w’orst experienced for years. Yesterday it centred at Rockhampton, but is now moving south. , Heavy downpours of rain have already been experienced in Sydney and along' the coast. Flood warnings have been issued. Coastal shipping is affected. The Louis Theriault, bound from Newcastle to Te Kopu, jrat in at Sydney for shelter. —P.A. MANY HOUSES UNROOFED. (Received Saturday, 10.5 a.m.) BRISBANE, This I)ay. Torrential rain, accompanied by a wind which at times reached cyclonic force, caused considerable damage in Southern Queensland. Many houses were unroofed. The creeks and rivers are rising, and low-lying land is inundated. —P.A.
