Mr. Lang, the new Prime Minister, •• states that there is no surplus in the -State: finances. He said that his inquiries made it -clear that if the Treasury prepared its .accounts in the way an honourable . business man would, no surplus could be shown, whereas various statements have been made that the Fuller Goveminent was leaving behind a surplus .of £500,000.
