THE DROP EXPLAINED. The sharp drop in the price of beef for export is explained by the following figures regarding meat afloat, cabled to AH J. A. Betts, of Alasterton:— Now. Last year. Quarters. Quarters For U.K. (chilled) .. 300,000 328,000 For F.K.: (frozen) .. 169,000 125,000 For Continent 292,000 180,000 Totals ........ 761,000 433,000 31 is significant that in June of last year chilled beef reached the low price of 2d (fores) and 4jd.(hinds 1 ). The cost of shipping frozen beef' from New Zealand is now l')d per lb.
