Dir Bert Chapman, of ’' and formerly of Mastertou, is on week-end visit to Mastertou. The death took place at Featherston. yesterday of Mrs. E. P. Wakelin, only daughter of Air. and,Mrs. C. R. Benton, of Featherston. The engagement is announced of MissMaud Foreman, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Foreman (Gladstone) ~ to Mr Walter Scott, eldest son df Mr and Mrs K. Scott (Te Panic). The marriage took place at Dannevirke on Thursday of Miss Edith Dickens, second daughter of Mt and Mrs A. Dickins, of Dannevirke, and formerly of Pongaroa, to Mr A. T. McNeilage (Palliatua). A very pretty wedding of interest to the Pirinoa district took place at St. Andrew’s Church, Martinborough, when Miss Gladys Atkinson was married to Mr James Penman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Raine, and. Miss Grace Holmes was bridesmaid. Prior to leaving for Wejlingtoniw where he has commenced practice, Dmi A. L. Hollings was presented by mew bers of the Memorial Tennis Club with, a casserole,, as an expression, of appreciation of his services as.. secretary since the club’s inception two .years ago. , At the quarterly meeting of the Loyal Wairarapa Past Grands’ Lodge of Oddfellows the following nominations of officers were received: —President, Bro. C. 11. Beuck; vice-presidents, Bros. Reed and Feist; warden, Bros. Jas. Shirkcy and White; lecture master, Bro. Lovegrove; committee, .Bros. D. P. Loasby, .1. H. Langley and J. A. Bo'ake; auditors, Bros. L. 11. Smart and A, P. Smith. At a farewell afternoon given by Featherston residents to Mrs S. J. Bolton, who is leaving Featherston for Dannevirke, by the members of the Croquet Club, Plunket Society and the P.W.M.U., the Mayoress (Miss Card) presented her with a silver tray suitably inscribed. Dir S. J. Bolton, who is to take up the duties of postmaster at Dannevirke, was presented with a of leather bowling bags from the therston Bowling Club, and .an oak sif-ting-room clock from the brethren of St. John’s Lodge. At the annual meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Farmers'’ Union, the following officers were elected - : — Chairman, Mr Ct T. Richardson (reelected); vice-chairman. Dir A. Tomlinson; executive committee, Messrs A. Hughan, W. Evans, H. Cooper, W. B. Dlatheson, T. Dloss, J. Scott, B. Morriss, A. 11. Herbert, S. Smith and J. W-hit-more-Searle. The chairman and vicechairman were appointed delegates to the Provincial Executive, and Mr Tomlinson delegate to the Provincial Conference. A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Church of St. John the Baptist, Dannevirke, on Wednesday,'when Miss Freda Rose, eldest daughter of Mr and Dlrs. J. Rose, Maharahara, was married to Dir. Denman ,E. Wilton, “Waitapu,” Featherston, fourth son - of Dir. and Mrs. R. F. Wilton, Dlauriceville. The Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily gowned in a frock of erepe-de-ehine and radium lace, trimmed with silver leaves and beads. She also ried a bouquet of white chrysanthjjfe mums . and maidenhair ferns..; / Tntrs bridesmaid, Dliss Alma Rose, sister of the bride, was attired in a lavender erbpe-de-chine frock, with pale pink trimmings and black hat and carried a bouquet of cream, and mauve chrysanthemums. Dir. E. Wilton, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the reception the happy couple left for the north, via Palmerston North, the bride travelling in a knitted costume with hat and shoes to match. Their future, home will be in the Wairarapa.
