UNRULY MOTORISTS.
A FIERCE FIGHT
MAN SHOT IN THE CHEST.
(Received Monday, 10.55 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day
Following a fracas at Tom Uglv’s Point, a man named Frederick Peterson, of Rozelle, was shot in the chest and taken to tho hospital in a serious condition. It is stated that members of a motoring party .arrived at the refreshment rooms and another driver inside, fearing that they might damage his car, went out, and was set upon without warning by several men. The other diners went out, and were also attacked.
A fight which, according to the police, was marked by the most abandoned conduct, ensued. Several people were injured, bottles being the principal weapons of offence. A determined effort was made to break into the premises. Harold Westbrook appeared and remonstrated with the men. He was set upon and drew a revolver. He pulled the trigger of the unloaded chamber, shouting, "It is a dummy!” The crowd again rushed, and a shot was fired, which hit Peterson.
Tho police arrived shortly after, and made live arrests, including Westbrook. —P.A.
