CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT. The following is the president s repo r on the past year's operations; The Society has had a fairly successful year. A number of new members have" been elected. The overdraft at the Bank, ".stands at £75 4s 7d, as against £l9O 12? 9d last year. This was partly due to the sale of the piano for £7<>, dancing mirrors £9 and old music £;; 7s (id. The piano cost iso some years ago and was randy used, so your directors decided to sell when a. good price was offered. The loss on the f oncert and Entertainment Account is £SO. This is not excessive seeing The rent of the Opera House for the New Year’s Concert has been raised from (£9 to £l->, and all artists are now paid from £.4 .‘is to £5 5s for their services at the concert. The Sports Account shows a loss of i£6o for the year. There is always a loss on this Account, and hitherto the profit on the New Year’s Concert made up the loss. There being so many other attractions oiUiNew Year’s Day, a loss on the sports seems inevitable. The Ingleside held during the winter was well attended, and a number of nonmembers were admited on payment of a fee. This brought in £24 odd and decreased the expenditure by this amount. The Ingleside given by the Chief (Mr. Robert Cameron) was also very successful and your directors wish to place on record their deep appreciation of their Chief’s help in this direction.

The pipe band has done very little work owing to having no Pipe Major and all equipment has been culled in. Tt is hoped to shortly have a Piper from Home a resident here, and if he can find a vacancy we hope to have the Pipe Band pushed along as of old. During the year a number of small dances and euchre parties were held. These were not so successful as anticipated, and they were dropped. Jubilee. —1925-2(5 being the 50th year of the Society, the directors-would like to make a -special effort, and any suggestions members have we would be glad to hear of them at the annual meeting.

Deaths.—A number of members were lost by death during the year, and the directors directed that Jetters of condolence be forwarded to the relatives.

The directors wish to place on record their deep appreciation to the ladies who assisted so generously at the two iuglesides. Notice of Motion.—Mr Tan Cameron has given notice of his intention to move on the recommendation of the Directors: “Tlratt Mr E. E. Chamberlain be elected an lion, life member in recognition of his past, services to the Society. ’ ’ —Yours Caledonially, John McKenzie, Past President.
