The death occurred at Featherston on Wednesday night of Mr .1. Xorthey. The late Mr Xorthey had been in indifferent health for some time. Deceased was a Borough Councillor and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He took a keen interest in all sports bodies, and was a member of several clubs. Deceased, who was 3d years of age, had resided in Featherston for the past S years, lie is survived by three sisters, one being Airs G. A. Vincent, of Featherston.

At the meeting of the Alasterton Trust Lands Trust last evening, Air. A. Donald intimated that, as he was now residing outside the Small Farm Area, he would shortly have fo vacate his seat, on the Trust, and that meeting would be the last that lie could attend. The chairman (Air. EX G. Eton) said that the Trust would be very sorry to lose the services of so keen a member, and he hoped it would have the benefit of his judgment and wisdom again in the near future. Other members also passed appreciative remarks, for which Air. Donald expressed thanks.

At. the Oddfellows’ Lodges’ Conference at Carterton it was resolved that the retiring Grand Master, Bro. Smith, be presented with the jewel of his office, that he lie thanked for his efforts, while passing through the chairs of the district, and that his name be placed upon the Honours Board in the District Chambers. Bro. Blair, in making the presentation, referred in eulogistic terms to the manner in which the retiring Grand Alaster had carried out his duties at all times, and the way in which he had controlled the conference. He also presented him, on behalf of iho Sisters and Brothers of Loyal Alasterton Lodge, with a Fast District Grand ALaster’s collar.

G. Dickinson, the Otago bowler .who is lo play in the test match against the Victorian cricketers, is the first Xcw Zealander to represent the Dominion in both the cricket and Rugby fields.
