At the Oddfellows’ Lodges’ Conference at Carterton, the following motion, proposed by the Jvilbirnie Lodge, was defeated: “That portion of the surplus of the Unity and Districts be invested and set aside for use in such towns and districts where the Order is not represented, in the purchase ol business property; such business property to have a 'Suitable room for a lodge room.”

At the Oddfellows’ Lodges’ Conference at Carterton, the management committee put forward the following proposal:—“That the district consider the advisability and practicability of establishing a Fund, to be termed ‘Equalisation of Contribution and Benefits Fund,’ to be constituted from such proportions of funds of lodge as the District, on actuarial advice, may consider necessary, and to be applied _ to the purpose of standardising contributions and benefits of all lodges in the Wellington district.” —The matter was held over for actuarial advice, and referred back to the newly elected managememt committee to deal with.

At a meeting held at Carterton yesterday under the auspices of the Wairarapa I’, and A. Society, the question of making a Wairarapa Court exhibit at the Wellington winter show was discussed. writes our Carterton correspondent. Disappointment was expressed at the proposed charge of one shilling per square foot for space at the show, which for Glut feet meant an outlay of £.'lo. A most successful guild social in connection with the Masterton Methodist Church was held on Wednesday evening. The following took part in the programme: —Miss Taylor (solo), Misses Judd and Ralph (dui't), Miss May and Airs W. Williams (duet), Aliss Alay (solo), and Air C. Ale Ivor (solo).
