As a protest against fines imposed upon them for leaving work at the Ivanhoe colliery ten weeks ago, since when it has been idle, 70 miners marched four deep to Lithgow, declaring their intention to go to gaol rather than pay. About 30 men relented, and paid their fines. The police told the others to go home until warrants were issued. The proceedings were quite orderly.
