MELBOURNE MURDER
ROSS’ APPEAL. INVESTIGATING NEW EVIDENCE. Cress Association—Electric Telegraph—Copyrigi., (Received Wednesday, 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Full Cabinet heard an application to definitely fix tho date for the hearing of the appeal by Ross against his conviction for the murder of the girl, Alma Tirtschke, in Gun Alley, off Little Collins street, on December 31st last. Tho Crown couhsel asked tho defence to serve an affidavit on the Crown. Mr. Brennan, for the defence, explained that he was unable at the present juncture to do so, as fresh evidence was arriving daily which needed investigation. The Chief Justice, Mr. Irvine, said that the appellant was not entitled to indefinitely suspend tho hearing pending inquiries. Judgment would be deferred till to-day—Press Assn.
