MASTERTON WEST SCHOOL

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterten West school committee was held last evening. Mr Alex. Donald presided, and there were also present: Messrs Jago, Naylor, Leete, Robertson and Norris (hon. sec.). Sundry accounts were passed for I ayment. The committee congratulated Miss Lena on the results achieved by her at the examination held in January, Miss Lenz having passed her lull teachers D and being the only probationer (of iier vears) in the district to obtain this honour. The attendance of scholars during the last four weeks was as follows: — Main school, 05 per cent, 96 per cent, 95 per cent, and 94 per cent; side school, 93 per cent, 95 .per cent, 96 per cent 93 per cent; average, 94 per cent. The r full attendance at. the side school i,s 119, and the main school 290, making a total of 490. During the month of February, vv. Truby King visited the school and delivered an address to the senior girls. Mr H. Miller, headmaster, reports steadv progress in the school, the scholars having again settled down to study. Mrs Bewley has been appointed infant mistress by the Education Board, and is expected to take, up her dunes shortly. Lately the swimming pool has been much in use.
