SOLDIERS’ SPORTS.
Given line weather, next Saturday should record one of the biggest crowds yet assembled on the Solway showgrounds since a programme of sports will bo submitted to the Wairavapa public that is seldom seen in the larger centres of New Zealand.
The Solway Cup handicap has attracted nominations from all over the Wairarapa, with the Tinui string ruling favourites. The Victoria Cross race is.always an event worth seeing, and tiie many amusing competitions should keep things lively. Quite apart from the excellence of the programme a cheap day’s outing for the family can be arranged since the. local taxi-car owners are reducing their fares to Is for adults and the lorries are running at fid and ‘id for tho bairns, children admitted to ground for fid. The strongest nrustef of bands vet seen on Solway is ca11,.,1 ~,1 1()i . ~A when the Muni-
