RED STAR V. MAURICEVILLE. A team from the Red Star Football Club journeyed to Mauriceville on Saturday and played a fifteen from there, defeating them by 15 points to nil. ■Tries were scored by V. Flaws, Rolf, W. Langley and H. Carson, and the latter also kicked a penalty goal. The best of the Mauriceville backs was S. Prag-

nell, while their forwards were a very even lot. H. Carson, Y. Flaws and P. McKenna were the pick of the Star backs, while Sid Dixon, Willoughby, J. Boss and “Snowy” Lee played good games in the forwards. A very enjoyable afternoon'was spent, thanks to the hospitality of the Mauriceville team. A return match will be played at' Masterton next Saturday. Mr T. Flaws controlled the game. GLADSTONE FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Gladstone Football Club was held in the P. and A. ollices at Carterton on Friday evening, when there was a good attendance, some 17 members being present. Mr Alf. Johnson, president, occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet, showing a crouit balance of £2l 6s lOd, submitted by the secretary (Mr F. H. Booth), was read and adopted. It was decided that a senior and junior team be nominated for the Wairarapa championship competition. The subscription was fixed at senior ss, juniors bs. A resolution was also carried that all subscriptions must be paid by the date on which the scven-a-side tourney is held. Carterton wdll be the club’s home

ground, and an opening practice is to be held on Saturday at the showgrounds. The lion, secretary reported that he had on his own initiative, taken round a subscription list on behalf of Mr W. Pinfold, a prominent playing member of the club, who had met with a severe accident and had been in hospital for seven months. A total of £S had been subscribed. —The secretary'S action was. endorsed, and it was unanimously agreed that the club subscribe £5 to the fund, and that an effort be made to collect more. ROLL OP HONOUR SHIELD. Regarding the handsome roll of honour shield presented by Mr Hermann Nitz for the inscription of the names of the club’s members who took part in the Avar, it Avas decided that those

killed or died of Avounds be inscribed thereon. At least 21 players gave their lives, and the club invite relatives to hand the names and correct initials, to the lion, secretary as early as possible. ELECTION OP OFFICERS.
