“SHUFFIING.”

’ , A WAITING POLICY. COUNTY COUNCIL AND A BAD ROADWAY. ’ The condition of the road between, the two Waipoua bridges came before the Borough Council meeting last night‘as the result of a communication! received from the Masterton County Council that the latter could do nothing at this time of the year, owing to the bad weather conditions, to improve the road by tar sealing, etc. Cr. O’Leary: “Tlie County Council is shuffling in the matter.’,’ A Councillor: “Yes, the County Council is simply hanging on till Lansdowne is brought into the Masterton borough, then the Masterton borongfe ■will require to do the work, thus saving the County Council the expense.” The Mayor:* “As a matter of fact, this is the time of the year to do the formation work, while the tar-sealing could be carried out in the summer.”

Mr J. Archer (borough engineer), in reply to a question, stated that the present, was the proper time of the year to put the metal on the road and lay the foundation for a tar-sealing in summer. It. was decided, on the motio-n of the Mayor, seconded by Cr. O’Leary, toforward a letter to tlie Masterton County Council, pointing out that the present was the proper time to carry out'the work of putting the metal cue the road and laying the foundation for the tar-sealing.
