ROUGH WEATHER.

GALE AT MAS TEUTON. Masterton was visitod by a violent goutli-westerly gale on Saturday night. The wind blew with hurricane force, while rain and hail came down in torrents. The rivers are in Hood, and much low-lying country is under water. The gale continued all day yesterday, heavy rain falling at intervals, but at an early hour this morning tlfe wind died down. There were falls of snow in various parts of the district, inches deep in some localities. Tho hills round Masterton were covered with snow yesterday. HEAVY FALLS OF SNOW. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUN E DIX, Sunday. Severe weather has prevailed here during the past three days. The temperature is very low. Snow has fallen all over the prvoince, and heavy falls are reported from tiie high country.

On Saturday, at -1 p.m.„ eighteen inches was lying in Arrowtown, and it was then snowing heavily.

At Cromwell, there was very little snow on the Hats, but the surrounding hills received a heavy coating.
