PARIS, Saturday
The American steamer Piave, with a cargo of bacon for Holland, stranded on the Goodwin Sands.
Efforts were made to refloat her for two days, the crew remaining on board.
The vessel suddenly broke asunder on Friday night with a deafening report .
— There were exciting scenes during the rescuing of the crew owing to the darkness and the failure of the electric light. Tugs and other boats assisting in the refloating operations eventually picked up most of the crew. Twenty aro still missing.
