THE COSY THEATRE.

Despite the heavy weather the Cosy Theatre was crowded on Saturday evening by an enthusiastic audience. One of the big attractions was "The Hungry Heart. 5, Pauline Frederick excels herself, and portrays every shade of feeling from that of blushing bridehood to the deepest and most jealous love passion. This petted wife, totally starving for want of something of wider range than wife and motherhood can give her, and the picture of a husband engrossed in his work to her exclusion, and having no sympathy for her wish to help him, finds a responsive chord in so many hears of the crowd of onlookers. A rescue from treacherous quicksands is one of the exciting feats performed by Bert Lytell in his initial Metro All-Star series picture, "The Trail to Yesterday. '•' This picturisation of Charles Alden Seitzcr's novel of the rugged West is replete with thrilling situations. For the success of the rescue scene, the co-operation of Anna Q. Nilsson, Mr Lytell's leadinglady, was necessary. Fortunately, Miss Nilsson insisted on carrying out each detail of the hazardous proceeding, declaring that a sense of fear was left out of her make-up. Bert Lytell accomplished this rescue with a lariata, showing his skill in the art of throwing a lasso. A good "Gaumont Graphic" is also showing.
