THE SOLDIERS' CLUB.
The official opening of the Soldiers' Club in Masterton to-day marks an important epoch in the life of the Wairarapa soldier. When we first advocated the Bcheme there was slight opposition from certain quarters which usually adopt a dog-in-tke-niangci , attitude towards every proposal inaugurated for the benefit of the town or a section of tho inhabitants. We are pleased to see that this opposition, which really carried no weight and did not iniluence the public one jot in their opinion concerning the advisability of establishing a Club in Masterton, has now faded away. As they realise that the institution has been successfully established, they are now joining the throng and proclaiming that the club is one of the greatest projects ever launched in Mastorton. We have all along maintained that the Sol. diers . Club would have a beneficial effect on the life of the soldier when he returned to civil life, and we are convinced that under sane management the Club will more than fulfil the expectations of its most optimistic supporters.
